  • Overview

    Oversees the design and administration of access control and intrusion detection of Argus-controlled areas. The Argus Security Administrator (ASA) must have a security systems background and thorough knowledge of DOE orders and directives. The ASA must have a basic understanding and knowledge of site security operations and access control concepts. The ASA defines security areas and requirements for the access. The ASA will support and maintain the network infrastructure utilized by Argus and other security systems. The individual will configure and install network devices (i.e.: routers, switches, firewalls) required to support the security systems. Individual interfaces with NNSS customers to define security systems and network configurations that meet security needs. The individual maintains access control by providing information, resources, and technical support. The ASA ensures authorized access by monitoring, investigating, and reporting system events and recommending improvements. The individual implements computer and terminal physical security by complying with standards, policies, and procedures; coordinating with facilities security; recommending improvements. Individual will be required to perform other task as deemed appropriate and required by the Director, Technology and Innovation.


    • Define security access areas and requirements and develops access list
    • Create and link the requirements for access, granting privileges and authorities to users and manages muster and access options.
    • Create and manage Argus security rules.
    • Extract, review, and distribute reports generated by the Argus system. 
    • Interface with NNSS customers to define Argus configurations that meet security needs.


    • Ability to design and administer intrusion detection and access control of Argus-controlled areas.
    • Knowledge of site security operation and access control concepts.
    • Intermediate-level computer skills that include all the Microsoft Office Suite software as well as software involved with Argus Security System
    • Knowledgeable in Federal and State Laws and Regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Manuals, Guides, and Standards, NNSA procedures, all NNSS site security procedures and policies to include extensive knowledge of the Site Security Plan requirements as they relate to Security Systems utilized to protect Special Nuclear Material, Classified Material, and DOE/NNSA facilities
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or Security Management with a focus on security systems
    • Five (5) years’ experience working directly with security operation and access control management
    • Valid US Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Nevada Driver’s License
