  • Overview

    The position of Safety Manager is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne. Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities in Northern Nevada and Northern California.     Responsibilities

    • Ensures compliance with contractual requirements including State, Federal and Dept of Defense Industrial Safety and Health regulations and policies.
    • Responsible for the effective and efficient management of all resources assigned and/or allocated to the office for the execution of the mission, functions and contractual requirements.  Evaluate work requests and job estimates, control budgets , conduct investigations, and prepare required reports to upper management.
    • Provide safety and safety related training to all Depot personnel.  Champion Safety Committees as appropriate.
    • Develop policies and procedures for the Company.  Ensure, through subordinate personnel, that required inspections are properly documented and accomplished in a timely manner, in support of Depot Activities.  Conduct proper investigations after a incident and/or accident involving ammunition, explosives, and equipment.
    • Upholds company values (Safety, Diversity, Integrity and Success). Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; treat all individuals fairly and with respect. Reports potential and known safety and environmental concerns to the appropriate personnel or department

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge and ability to comply with contractual requirements including State, Federal and Dept of Defense Explosives Safety regulations and policies.
    • Knowledge and ability to evaluate and maintain work requests, job estimates, control budgets , conduct investigations, and prepare required reports.
    • Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
    • Knowledge and ability to develop policies, procedures and techniques.
    • Knowledge and ability to comply with Safety Precautions for Ammunition and Explosives
    • B.S. /B.A. in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Management or related field or equivalent combination of Education and Experience.
    • Five (5) years experience in Safety Management with executive management experience preferred.  Government contracting experience preferred.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC’s Master Training Plan.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.  Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.
