    The position of Quality Assurance Inspector Supervisor is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne. Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities in Northern Nevada and Northern California.     Responsibilities

    • Works with Manager, Quality Assurance to plan and develop policies and to establish goals and objectives related to Quality Assurance inspection activities.  Assists in evaluating work requests and job estimates, and in controlling department budgets.
    • Plans and schedules the approved and authorized work of employees involved in the quality assurance and technical inspection of the receipt, issue, storage, renovation or demilitarization of ammunition and ammunition components.  Ensures the accurate preparation for documentation of all inspections. 
    • Provides administrative and technical guidance to subordinate and other personnel. Develops and provides training as authorized and needed for depot employees, in ammunition related activities.
    • Authorizes rejection of packaging, handling, or storage which does not meet acceptable standards.  Authorizes rejection of a product which does not meet acceptable standards. Recommends improvements to methods and procedures to assure that standards are met and/or more economical modes of operation are utilized.  Participates in quality improvement efforts with other depot organizations.
    • Acts as lead internal quality auditor. Exercises use of professional discretion and moderate but limited independent judgment.  Recommends to Sr. Leadership the hire, termination, promotion or change of status of other employees.

May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; treat all individuals fairly and with respect. Reports potential and known safety and environmental concerns to the appropriate personnel or department.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge and ability sufficient to support Assistant Manager and maintain the certification process to assure ISO certification for Depot Maintenance and Supply Services operations. 
    • Ability to evaluate and prepare work requests, job estimates, control budgets and prepare required reports.
    • Knowledge and ability to develop and maintain policies, procedures and techniques.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally, in English, using all standard and commonly used forms of business communication. Must have the ability to write technical reports.
    • Must possess and demonstrate sufficient computer and applicable software proficency to be able to perform job duties as needed .
    • High school diploma or equivalent, and A.S. /A.A. in Industrial Management or closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
    • Minimum of three (3) years experience in inspection/quality assurance with at least one (1) year of supervisor and/or leadership experience. Familiarity with munitions, calibration and Hazardous Materials is essential.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC’s Master Training Plan.  Maintaining certifications is a condition of continued employment.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.  Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.
