  • Overview

    The position of Traffic Clerk is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne. Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities in Northern Nevada and Northern California.     This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares incoming shipment document packages and reciepts.  Serve as an official weigh master for all commercial vehicles.
    • Maintains custodial seal records for incoming and outgoing shipments.  Follows  Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials as well as all state and federal regulations.
    • Maintains records of shipments received at HWAD.  Reviews and verifies receiving documents. Establishes transportation unit for applicable incoming shipments.  Reports received shipments to consignee and all concerned.
    • Uphold company values (Safety, Diversity, Integrity and Success).   Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.  May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above.  Maintain high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to Environmental Services.

    Qualifications

    • Must be able to effectively carry out written and verbal instruction professionally using standard methods in the English language.
    • Must be able to efficiently operate Microsoft windows as well as various site specific applications.
    • Must demonstrate a high level of customer service skills.
    • Must be capable of ensuring confidentiality when dealing with sensitive materials and information.
    • Must be able to exercise independent judgement with minimal supervision..
    • High School graduate or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 9 months clerical skills and/or SDO experience preferred.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as outlined in SOC's Master Training Plan
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
    • Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all time, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties.
