  • Overview

    The position of Physician's Assistant is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne. Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities in Northern Nevada and Northern California.     The incumbent will evaluate job candidates medically for suitability while following all state, federal, OSHA, DoD , and DOT guidelines. The PA will medically examine current employees annually; and will treat, assess, and refer injured workers as appropriate.

    Responsibilities

    • Physical Examinations. Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
    • Initiate and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
    • Fitness for Duty Evaluations and routine daily medical diagnosis.
    • Oversee all other duties which are included in the Supervising physician’s scope of practice.
    • Post accident and injury evaluation, treatment, and referral.
    • Maintain high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; treat all individuals fairly and with respect.

    Qualifications

    • Must be able to read and interpret OSHA, NIOSH and other applicable regulations applicable to the workforce.
    • Must have the ability to develop a positive rapport with patients.  
    • Knowledge of Occupational Medical Surveillance Plans, Risk Management, Quality Control, and Workers Compensation processes general clinic guidelines
    • Must be able to operate basic computer software and hardware.
    • Must have a clear practicing background.
    • Accredited PA program and National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination required.
    • Five (5) Years as a licensed Physicians Assistant desired.Experience in Occupational Medicine preferred.
    • Certified and listed with the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners required.  Delegation of Services agreement with Supervising physician.  ALS certificate.  Basic CPR certificate.  Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC's Master Training Plan.
    • DEA license and Pharmacy license required. Must be able to obtain and maintain the approprioate level of governement security clearance as well as a clearance with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
    • Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all time, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties. Must not have any previous malpractice infractions.
