  • Overview

    The position of Electric Shop Supervisor is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne. Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities in Northern Nevada and Northern California.     • Supervise the Electrical Shop in support of Hawthorne Army Depot operations, activities, facilities, residents and tenants. Oversee electrical shop personnel, materials and equipment. Customarily and regularly directs the work of ten (10) or more employees. 
    • Responsible for scheduling, staffing, procurement and maintenance of equipment, quality control, inventory control and coordination of activities with those of other departments. Oversee electrical shop personnel, materials and equipment. Work requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgement.  
    • Plan, organize, and coordinate Shop functions to accomplish the established mission. Ensure compliance with Company and governmental guidelines and regulations pertaining to the responsibilities of this position.
    • Develop Standing Operating Procedures for the Shop. Work with the Manager to plan and develop policies and to establish goals and objectives related to the Shop. Recommend improvements of procedures for efficiently using equipment, systems, and manpower for the effective operation of the Shop.
    • Prepare a Department budget. Review expenditures and supplies/materials purchases for effective cost control. Supervise the preparation of correspondence and reports for the Department.
    • Control electrical operations by acquisition, utilization, and redistribution of equipment. Develop a preventive maintenance program and operational records to monitor the utilization and maintenance of electrical equipment, including unscheduled maintenance of all electrical related safety issues. Direct the scheduling of electrical maintenance to include planning and estimating for installation, rebuilding, and periodic maintenance.

    • Relevant electrical certification and/or training consistent with a Master Electrician Status.
    • Six (6) years experience as electrician to include one (1) year supervisory experience.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC's Master Training Plan.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada drivers license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
    • Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all time, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties.
