Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
Perform preventive maintenance, overhaul, and repair work. Troubleshoot defective operations and breakdowns of machinery and equipment such as compressors, paint booths, drill and hydraulic presses, bolt drivers, conveyor systems, grit blasting equipment, and pneumatic power systems. Follow Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials.
Provide support to production and other facilities by install new machinery, relocate machinery presently in use to new locations, and realign machine beds. Troubleshoot, replace or repair parts, wheels, shafting, bearings, etc. Adjust clearances, belt drives, and various other working parts. Realign gears. Install tools and fixtures on ordnance type equipment.
Adjust interrelated systems in machinery such as power drives, speed reduction mechanisms, lubrication systems and conveyors, and pneumatic/hydraulic power equipment.
Operate lathes, drill presses, power saws, milling machines, and pedestal grinders to fabricate simple replacement parts. Perform minor AC/DC and oxy/acetylene gas welding.

May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; treat all individuals fairly and with respect. Reports potential and known safety and environmental concerns to the appropriate personnel or department.
Education: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required. Certifiable technical or trade school training as an Equipment Mechanic highly desirable.
Experience: Minimum of Two (2) years experience as an Equipment Mechanic or related experience required, Four (4) years highly desireable, or a combination of education, training and experience.
Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC’s Master Training Plan.
License and Registrations: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid, State of Nevada, driver’s license. Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Firearms.
Other: Must be able to perform work duties routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all times, and especially alert, while performing safety sensitive duties.
