Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

Collects data, makes measurements, designs and prepares drawings, specifications, and cost estimates in support of all assigned engineering activities at the Hawthorne Army Depot. Responsible for organizing, analyzing, and planning assigned mechanical, civil, electrical, and or structural engineering projects..
Perform various designated engineering support activities for plant systems, facilities, equipment, and utilities. Coordinates assignments with other departments as needed or assigned.
Perform designated field investigations. Collects data, analyzes data, makes measurements utilizing electronic test instruments and measuring devices (transit, surveyor’s level, electrical circuit monitoring instruments) in support of all fields of engineering.
Prepares assigned plans and specifications, material lists and cost estimates for projects, under the general direction of the Division Manager and or Engineer.
Prepares and submits approved subcontract specifications and design projects. Assists in the administration, planning and scheduling of facilities maintenance, construction, and modification contracts. Act as Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) during assigned sub contract construction projects.
Prepares assigned project drawings using computer aided design systems. Uses work processing, spreadsheet and data base computer programs. Performs other duties as assigned, including occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum two (2) years of vocational or college training in Engineering Technology or equivalent in construction practices, required. Equivalent combination of education and closely related work experience may be considered. AA degree or more advanced education, preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of directly and closely related ET experience working in Engineering Technology and/ construction trades. Must have a working knowledge of construction codes.
Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC's Master Training Plan.
Licenses/Registrations: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada drivers license. Class A commerical drivers license desired. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Other: Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Perform safety sensitive duties.
