    The position of Railroad Inspector, with SOC LLC, A Day and Zimmermann Company, is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne.     Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

    HWAD, is also located near the East Gate to Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes, Heavenly and Mt. Rose ski resorts, and a comfortable 4 -5 hour drive North West of Las Vegas , NV.     • Coordinates the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities for Depot railroads and other railroad facilities for which the Company may assume responsibility. Ensures compliance with company policy and safety standards.
    • Provides general oversight of rail maintenance personnel. Assigns work as guided by Supervisor. Coordinates and provides training for all assigned employees in safety, and functional skills. Ensures compliance with all safety rules and regulations by assigned personnel. Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty.
    • Reviews and recommends schedules and completes inspections to determine the condition of tracks maintained by the Company or by subcontractor personnel. Directs workers during repairs, including acting as foreperson as needed at jobsite on behalf of supervisor.
    • Coordinates and assigns the use of designated organizational assets to ensure the most efficient use of those assets. Prepares, reviews and submits for approval reports of activities and work accomplished.
    • May be asked to assist with planning and estimates related to railroad and/or road re-construction project.


    Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advanced technical training in Railroad Maintenance Techniques desired.


    Length Of Experience:Minimum of Five (5) years experience in Railroad Maintenance or related field required. Government Contracting experience desirable. Supervisory experience desired but not required.


    Certifications: Must be able to be certified as an U.S. Army Railroad Track Inspector. Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as outlined in the SOC's Master Training Plan.


    Licenses/Registrations: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver’s license.Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
