    The position of Motor Vehicle Operator with SOC LLC, A Day and Zimmermann Company, is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne.     Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

    HWAD, is also located near the East Gate to Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes, Heavenly and Mt. Rose ski resorts, and a comfortable 4 -5 hour drive North West of Las Vegas , NV.     This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.


    • Couples and uncouples trailers by manipulating fifth wheel, pintle hooks, lunettes, safety chains, brake hoses, and electrical connections.
    • Performs operator inspections of assigned equipment. Determines malfunctions, advises repairman, and prepares write-ups. Services equipment by replenishing items such as coolant, fuel, oil, and air as appropriate. Drains air tanks, filters, pumps, and segregators.
    • Distributes and secures cargo. Installs protective covering as necessary. Marks dangerous or protruding cargo and attach chains to vehicles. Assists with the loading and unloading of the truck; including operating MHE and location of material in the stowage site, when the driver's absence from the truck will not create a safety or security problem.
    • Provides training as required to assist less experienced personnel to improve their skills and safety awareness. Uses and maintain all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks if properly qualified and authorized by supervision.




    EDUCATION:  Minimum High School diploma or equivalent, required Certified and verifiable trade school training desirable.


    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years experience operating tractor trailers and related operator maintenance.


    CERTIFICATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain any certifications as outlined in the Master Training Plan.


    LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada, Class A CDL driver’s license. Must be able to obtain Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements within 60 days of employment and maintain the certifications. Must satisfactorily complete the Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition Operations required by AMC Regulation 350-4 within 90 days of hire. Maintaining current certification is a condition of continued employment.


    OTHER: Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all time, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties.
