    The position of Automotive Mechanic, with SOC LLC, A Day and Zimmermann Company, is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne.     Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

    HWAD, is also located near the East Gate to Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes, Heavenly and Mt. Rose ski resorts, and a comfortable 4 -5 hour drive North West of Las Vegas , NV. For our outdoor enthusiasts, there are abundant opportunities nearby for hiking, biking, fishing, camping, ATV/UTV and other sports.

    Responsibilities

    • Work from written and verbal instruction and on own initiative as assigned. Accomplish assignments with a minimum supervisory guidance, applying accepted craft or trade techniques, good housekeeping practices, and safe, efficient work procedures.
    • Disassemble and examine parts to determine level of repairs or parts replacement needed. Prepare a checklist of all defects to be repaired and initiate repairs.
    • Replace, repair, and reassemble as necessary. Adjust, time, tune, and test assemblies and complete units for proper operation. Provide training as required to assist less experienced personnel to improve their skills and safety awareness.
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical issues on various equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems, and determine what level of repair is necessary.
    • Windshield replacement, body repair and/or panel replacement.
    • Uphold company values (Safety, Diversity, Integrity and Success). Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. Maintain high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; Responsible for reporting actual and potential safety and environmental concerns.

     

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certified automotive trade school training desired.

     

    LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years prior experience in automotive repair, maintenance, and diagnostics required.

     

    CERTIFICATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC's Master Training Plan.

     

    LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada drivers license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

     

    OTHER: Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Perform safety sensitive duties.
