Munitions Handler

The position of Munitions Handler, with SOC LLC, A Day and Zimmermann Company, is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne. Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

HWAD, is also located near the East Gate to Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes, Heavenly and Mt. Rose ski resorts, and a comfortable 4 -5 hour drive North West of Las Vegas , NV. This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.

• Under Leader/Crafts direct supervision, perform warehousing duties involving stock movement into or out of storage facilities, physical inventory,disassemble, assemble, warehouse arrangement, accessibility, clean, repair, rework, inspect, test, load, package, move, or mark any ordnance items or components. Must ensure all doors and winows are properly sercure in work areas. * Note: Munitions Handlers can be assigned to various areas including: Ammo Process Operations, Supply Depot Operations, Fix it Crew, and Inventory. May perform other duties as assigned and may be reassigned to other depot locations as workload fluctuates. 

• Operate mobile equipment such as MHE, vehicles for transporting personnel, tools, equipment, ammunition components, or machines used in the manufacture or demlilitarization of munitions such as chemical stripping vats, stress relief ovens, grit blast machines, spray paint and electrostatic paint systems, melt kettles, hydraulic presses, overhead hoists, etc. May operate computer based programs such as the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) and AIT scanning tools. 

• Accurately record and report all Munition and Munition component accountability and descrepancies to the appriopriate authority.

• Remove dunnage and maintain a clean, secure and safe work area to include but not limited to pulling weeds, emptying trash and cleaning restrooms in or around explosive operations buildings and/or magazines.

• Uphold company values (Safety, Diversity, Integrity and Success). Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May perform occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed. Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; Responsible for reporting potential known environmental and safety concerns to Supervisor or appropriate department.

EDUCATION: Minimum High school diploma or equivalent required.

LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE: No prior experience required. Previous Munitions experience helpful.

CERTIFICATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain required training in accordance with SOC's Master Training Plan.

LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada drivers license unless physically unqualified to obtain such a license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms clearance, Common Acces Card (CAC), and must pass local agency background check.

OTHER: Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all times, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties.
