    The position of Manager, Engineering & Planning, with SOC LLC, A Day and Zimmermann Company, is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne.     Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

    HWAD, is also located near the East Gate to Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes, Heavenly and Mt. Rose ski resorts, and a comfortable 4 -5 hour drive North West of Las Vegas , NV. For our outdoor enthusiasts, there are abundant opportunities nearby for hiking, biking, fishing, camping, ATV/UTV and other sports.

    Responsibilities

    • Supports Department and organizational leaders, (GM, Directors,etc.) to plan, develop, recommend, and implement approved rules, regulations, and administrative department policies. Establishes office goals and objectives for review and approval as appropriate. Plans work schedules for assigned personnel and provide technical guidance as required. Evaluates work in progress and initiate corrective measures to accomplish established goals and objectives. Customarily and regularly directs the work of eight (8) or more employees.
    • Oversee engineering designs, construction and maintenance of existing and new facilities.
    • Through a subordinates, provides for the planning, control and documentation of maintenance for the physical plant at the Depot including scheduled, unscheduled and preventive maintenance. Provides service call and emergency maintenance and repair service for depot personnel and housing tenants.
    • Prepares budgets and review expenditures to control costs. Prepares requests for funds. Supervises development and submission of reports and correspondence. Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.
    • Works with Government counterparts to insure successful project justification, funding and completion.
    • Manages the development, growth and increased capilities of the Engineering Staff. Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; treat all individuals fairly and with respect.Reports all potential and known environmental and safety concerns to the appropriate department or personnel.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:  High School diploma or equivalent and B.S. Degree in Engineering, required.

     

    EXPERIENCE:  Five (5) years experience in facilities maintenance and facilities engineering.

     

    CERTIFICATIONS: Professional Engineering (PE) Certification, preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain all required training as outlined in SOC's Master Training Plan.

     

    LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:  Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license unless physically unqualified to obtain such a license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau Of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

     

    OTHER: Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all time, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties.
