Responsibilities

Perform personal protective service detail assignments. Responsibilities can include:

  • Perform as long-range defensive marksman.
  • Act as member on Emergency Response Team.
  • Carries and operates weapons as specified in daily post and detail orders, or upon orders from the detail leader or shift leader.
  • Driving the lead vehicles (Auto, Aircraft, Boat), principal's vehicle, or follow-vehicle, whenever required in motorcade or similar operations.
  • Maintaining protective formation position during principal's walking movements.
  • Participating in advance security preparations.
  • Manning the security post at principal’s residence or manning the command post as required.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must have a valid U. S. issued driver's license and valid U. S. issued tourist passport
  • Must attend and successfully complete a sniper/DDM/sharpshooter program issued by a military, law enforcement, or security (government or commercial) training program. This sniper/DDM/sharpshooter program must be of suitable complexity and quality to adequately prepare the graduate for successful performance as a contract required DDM. Examples of programs that meet this requirement include, but are not limited to:
    •  US Marine Corps (USMC) Scout/Sniper
    • US Army Sniper School
    • US Special Forces Sniper School (formerly SOTIC)
    • Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Hostage Rescue Team (HRT)/Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT)
    • Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Mobile Security Division (MSD) DDM
    • National Tactical Officer's Association (NTOA) recognized law enforcement sniper course 
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of applicable experience
    • A minimum of two (2) years of this experience must be as a Designated Defensive Marksmen Candidates claiming military experience must have either a sniper military occupation specialty (MOS) or additional skill identifier (ASI). If claiming law enforcement experience for this requirement, must be full time, not as a collateral duty.
    • Experience may be gained in the employ of any national, state, provincial, local, or commercial entities providing armed high threat protective services.
  • Must attend and successfully complete all required training courses
  • Must qualify with the Glock-19, M4, M203, M240, M249, Remington 870 shotgun, M24, and SR25, re-qualifying as required by the contract.
  • Obtain and maintain a personnel security clearance.
