SOC is recruiting for an Armorer for our Nevada location.
Ensures all Federal, DOE, NNSA, NNSS, State of Nevada, Manufacturer specification and qualifications, and SOC armory/firearms/munitions requirements are achieved and regulatory requirements followed.
Inspects, repairs, certifies, maintains, and test fires firearms as required and for semi-annual firearms certification.
Ensures accountability of ammunition/munitions in accordance to DOE, NNSA, NNSS and SOC policies and procedures. Receives, issues, and responsible for inventory requirements for PF ammunition/munitions located at NNSS.
Accountability, calibration, preparation and maintenance of all Military Integrated Laser Engagement Systems (MILES) Laser gear on a monthly basis. Provides support to Engagement Simulation Systems (ESS) Controller during SPTs and Force-on-Force exercises.
Assists with ammunition request and deliveries and inventories as required.
Knowledgeable in Federal and State Laws and Regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Manuals, Guides, and Standards, SOC Nevada procedures, all SOC Nevada site security procedures and policies to include extensive knowledge of the Security firearms, ammunition, manufacturer specifications for each specific weapons system and ESS firearms and equipment as they relate to Protective Force services
Skilled in maintenance, diagnostics, modification and repair of all firearms available to the Protective Force in accordance to DOE and SOC procedures and policies.
Knowledgeable in procurement, issue and inventory of ammunition/munitions in compliance with DOE and SOC procedures and policies.
Intermediate-level computer skills that include Microsoft Word and Excel software.
High School or equivalent diploma.
Three (3) years of direct working experience in DOE armory or gunsmithing or in Law Enforcement, or Military Depot level gunsmithing. Weapons certifications as listed below required. 3 years direct experience with MILES or other similar type laser engagement systems.
DOE Armorer Certification, Certifications from DOE and/or weapons manufacturer for all weapons at NNSS PF. Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification, Hazardous Material Transportation Certification, DOE Armorer Certification, DOE Firearms Instructor Certification and DOE Basic Instructor Certification
Valid US Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Nevada Driver’s License
