SOC is recruiting for a Payroll Specialist for our Nevada location.
Coordinates processes and leads the payroll effort in the performance of regular payroll processing of each labor period.
Ensures that payroll processing is done accurately, completely and in compliance with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), federal and state laws and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Ensures the pay-related programs (taxes, FMLA, other benefits, direct deposit, ACH, and payroll documentation) are accounted for and processed appropriately and timely.
Prepares and analyzes various, labor, overtime and leave reports for monthly, quarterly deliverables. Maintains the payroll processing data files and implements current HR information as it applies to payroll. Generates and reconciles the payroll register from software data base.
Ensure checks and direct deposit data and payments are coordinated with Corporate Office and bank.
Prepares IDIQ file for billing, analyze, research and edit WBS with current rates.
Knowledge in: automated accounting systems; Accounting/payroll principles and theories; federal, state, DOE and SOC rules, regulations, policies and procedures regarding payroll processing and how it applies to the SOC Nevada environment; Collective Bargaining Agreement as relevant to payroll processing.
Ability to: work independently and as a team member; manage multiple tasks while maintaining strict attention to detail as well as confidentiality; recognize and formulate solutions to complex Finance/Payroll related problems; establish and maintain an effective working relationship with staff, external agencies and the general public.
Skills in use payroll database systems.
Intermediate-level computer skills that include all the Microsoft Office Suite of software, to include advanced experience in Excel programming and spreadsheet development.
High school diploma or equivalent required with at least six (6) credit hours of college-level accounting courses to include financial accounting and payroll processing
Three (3) years’ experience in payroll processing and accounting or business related field.
Valid US Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Nevada Driver’s License
