Overview

SOC is recruiting for a Sr Electronics Engineer, Security Systems for the NNSS Protective Force Contract in Nevada.

 

Serves as the supervisor of the Security Systems Engineering group, providing direction, equipment, and leadership to departmental personnel. Ensures protective systems meet performance requirements defined in SSP while ensuring systems are compliant with federal regulations. Serve as System Owner in the Configuration Management program. The NNSS Security Systems Engineering Group provides life-cycle management of all electronic systems that provide physical security for classified matter and special nuclear material. The goal of the Security Systems Engineer Group is to ensure continued operability of the NNSS security systems and continuously seek innovative solutions to improve the reliability and efficiency of the systems.

 

Responsibilities

  • Directs, supervises, and controls security systems engineering activities to include the following functional areas: daily staffing;  overseeing security systems life-cycle management and process improvement upgrades; coordinating with various SOC Department Heads on policies, procedures and security systems duties; corrective action for a major portion of all customer-identified security systems deficiencies to include overseeing, processing and approving all electronic technician discipline issues.
  • Selects, hires, promotes, supervises, coaches and develops subordinates, and administers personnel actions (i.e. discipline, performance evaluations, salary administration, etc.) for department staff.
  • Provides leadership, management and organizational support to staff.
  • Implements company and DOE/NNSA/SOC operational policies and procedures. Interprets policies and regulations and instructs subordinates.
  • Provides daily operational support to the Technology Director, participating and assisting in the management of the daily business and department operations.
  • Develops and maintains security systems engineering operating budget.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in Federal and State Laws and Regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Manuals, Guides, and Standards, NNSA procedures, all NNSS site security procedures and policies to include extensive knowledge of the Site Security Plan requirements as they relate to Security Systems utilized to protect Special Nuclear Material, Classified Material, and DOE/NNSA facilities
  • Federal and State Laws and Regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Manuals, Guides, and Standards, NNSS/NNSA and SOC policies, procedures, and orders
  • Supervisory leadership and management skills to include coaching, employee development, planning, organizing, scheduling, team building, problem solving, conflict resolution, and directing activities of section employees, conducting performance appraisals and inquiries that address employee performance
  • Intermediate-level computer skills that include all the Microsoft Office Suite of software
  • Knowledge and skilled in complex alarm management systems, interior and exterior intrusion detection systems, video assessment and surveillance systems, auxiliary power and lighting systems, access control and denial systems, and wired/wireless command and control centers and a complete understanding and broad application of cyber security, technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts in the field of security systems. Requires general knowledge of other related disciplines and/or functions. Experience with Argus and Pecos security systems is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Prefer a Master of Business Administration degree and a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Nevada
  • Ten (10) years of experience in Electrical Engineering Field and three (3) years supervisory experience. Experience and training in engineering management, configuration management, systems engineering, cyber security, and assessments is desired.
  • Successful participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
  • Valid US Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Nevada Driver’s License
  • DOE “Q” clearance authorization
