SOC is recruiting for a CAD Operator for our Nevada location.
Operate computer devices for engineering purposes, such as CAD/CAM or similar commercially available or proprietary systems. Working closely with design originators or independently, prepare preliminary and final scale drawings for projects that may include new features and nonstandard design characteristics. Prepare detail drawings with drawings for complex and intricate security systems and equipment.
Develop complete layouts with supporting detail drawings of security systems or equipment for which standard precedents are not applicable. Perform unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.
Compute quantity of materials, load capacities, etc., using prescribed source data, standard formulas and manuals. Prepare project cost estimates and provide project justifications. Work with internal and external customers to satisfy requirements.
Coordinate filing, storage and retrieval of both manual and electronic drawings. Maintain, support and operate associated plotters and printers.
Perform drawing and technology research.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to frequent project changes. Ability to follow complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings using company and government drafting standards. Accuracy and effectiveness in electronic drafting
Ability to work with either verbal direction and/or from engineering sketches/calculations to produce an acceptable work product with minimal supervision.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw conclusions drawing upon experience, research and input from peers.
Knowledgeable in drafting principles and CAD/CAM or similar commercially available or proprietary systems.
Knowledgeable in Federal and State Laws and Regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Manuals, Guides, and Standards, SOC Nevada procedures, all SOC Nevada site security procedures and policies to include extensive knowledge of the Site Security Plan requirements as they relate to Security Systems utilized to protect Special Nuclear Material, Classified Material, and DOE facilities
High school graduate or equivalent. Certifiable technical training in the field of Electronic or CAD drafting required.
Four (4) years’ experience as a Drafter. Formal Education or a combination of education and experience may be substituted, as appropriate.
Valid US Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Nevada Driver’s License
